SEBORRHOEIC DERMATITIS
Seborrhoeic dermatitis is an inflammatory disease of the skin characterised by inflammation and scaling of specific areas of the face and scalp, and commonly known as dandruff. It affects approximately of the adult population, over 1.7 million people in Spain. It accounts for around 10% of dermatological consultations, starts in puberty, and reaches its maximum prevalence and intensity between 18 and 40 years of age, and is more common in the male population.
What is dandruff?

The accumulation of sebum on the scalp can give rise to colonisation by micro-organisms
MALASSEZIA FURFUR
The most frequent cause of dandruff is the presence of Malassezia furfur. A skin fungus that grows in the presence of sebum.
FLAKING AND ITCHING
The proliferation of this fungus triggers an inflammatory response that eventually results in the characteristic itching and flaking of dandruff.
